Hammond Vault

The first page of the Twinkle Toes story explains the connections between the Hughes and Hammond clans - equally, if you are that way inclined, you can see it in graphic form by looking at the family trees, either from a Hammond perspective (see chart below) or Hughes one here.

This is the entry point for the Hammond family vault, over time I hope to expand it with pictures, stories and anecdotes regarding this side of the family.

Whether this happens quickly or not depends on contributions from other people, in reality other Hammonds, or people who know them. I want to encourage participation on this project, as my vision is of this becoming a place to exchange news and stories. So if you have a contribution to make to the Hammond vault, however big or small, don't be shy or hesitate and contact me here.

That this has happened at all is due to the fact that, as I explained in the Twinkle Toes story, my researching into the Hughes line turned up no new Hughes, but instead, a second cousin on the Hammond side of the family. Carolyn has been researching family history far longer than I and it reflects in the chart she has done, which is large and interesting. Given the inevitable wider connections you find when you undertake family research, this is well worth looking at even if you are not a Hammond and it can be found be clicking on the image below. All the comments I made re opening the Hughes tree apply here too in terms of accessing the image, but even more so as this is a big image. For those who don't have broadband it may take a second or two to download but it's worth it.

Now one of the reasons for doing this at all is as an aid to family research, one of the great things about the Internet is it allows us to share information and knowledge with each other, so if you are in any way related to anyone on that chart, or the Hughes one, do get in touch with me. That is how Carolyn and I became (re)acquainted, ie I found her notice that she was researching the Stockport Hammonds and on the chance these were the Cheshire Hammonds I knew, I dropped her a line. The rest as they say is history!

However, like I had my search for Twinkle Toes Carolyn has her quest for Robert Owen Hammond. What this means can be found by reading the story she wrote from the link below and if you can help her solve the mystery drop me a line and I can put you in touch.
