Updates 2002

November 2002

bulletThe Hammond vault of stories and information has been added to understand how this all works follow the In Search of Link below. If you want to go directly click here. This is the next stage in the work begun last month.

October 2002 major update three

bulletAfter a few hours of struggle the problem below seems to be fixed, let me know if you come across anything.
bulletYet more problems with the Blueyonder server and it's issues with Front Page - I'm on with the tedious process of fixing it!
bulletThe Family Tree has been updated again, a lot more people on all sides of the family are on it and it takes into account the British Census's of 1881 and 1901.
bulletI've updated the family story building on my Grandfathers original account.
bulletThere is a whole new In Search of... , the search for my mysterious relative who played for what became Manchester United and fought in the Great War.
bulletAll of this can best be accessed via the In Search of link below.

September 2002

bulletI've updated to Front Page 2002 and I expect quite a few things will not work too well in Netscape. It does all work in IE5 and above
bulletFurther updates to the Family Tree it now incorporates information from the 1901 census. It's consequently much bigger but viewable, either by downloading and viewing in a DTP programme or even Paint or by using tools in your browser.
bulletBlueyonder servers were their usual oppositional self when it came to uploading this and some other technical changes, it just does not like Front Page...

August 2002

bulletThe second of the really significant and planned changes, I've moved the family history bit and linked it into a new section called "In Search Of" which can be found from the link at the bottom of the page - the thinking behind this is set out there.
bulletYou'll find that the first of the "In Search Of" chapters is about folklore, pictures and old stories from my home area of Cheshire. Just follow the link from the In Search of... main page below.
bulletI've also done some minor tidying up and slightly re-framed the homepage, I'm wondering if I ought to spice it up a bit... and obviously I've adjusted this page too.

May 2002

bulletWell here we are in May and Blueyonder may just finally have resolved their upgrade issues. Grrr, the better (actually worst) part of a month wrangling, re-setting/editing the site and they finally they admit there are problems!!! Solution? Zap the whole damn lot and start again..., good job I'd backed it all up then isn't it? So much for upgrades.
bulletYou may find that some of the link buttons disappear, usually the link still works! Refreshing the page also clears it, as might just letting the mouse roll over it!
bulletUpdate 2: The benefit to you is that I've added more funnies for you, see the Humour link below, tidied up some bits and refreshed a few themes.
bulletMeanwhile between this and work I've had time for nothing else, so no new "Notes From..." (boo, hiss).
bulletHowever, in the future expect some major work on the family history side, as I did just manage to fit in a visit to my elderly sister and got: a) A cut above the eye (don't ask) and b) Some pics and information.
bulletI'm also planning a picture section to the site at the suggestion of a long lost friend from the US of A. (Who has promised me a picture of herself  to add in, as since we left High School she has become a film star, so you can all wait for that one. Hell, me I'm just the scriptwriter..)
bullet18 May - well after an indescribably appalling load of wrangling with Blueyonder who took the Microsoft approach to customer care (see below), it now appears the site is working again. A month of down time and futile arguments, sorry about that, but hope you enjoy the updates. Hopefully more will come soon and of the planned variety not editing and re-editing because of a technically deficient IT section!
bulletOne more joke:
bullet Q How many Microsoft (or Blueyonder) technicians does it take to change a light bulb?
bulletA - none. Haven't you heard darkness is the new standard...

April 2002

bulletNB Blueyonder have upgraded the server - oh joy - and of course things are acting strangely.... I'll try and clean things up as I find them. Any problems let me know:  Webmaster
